National Director Named Climate Reality Leader in Manila, Philippines

Manila, Philippines - This week, Laura Clark, the National Director of Miss Earth United States attended Climate Reality Leadership Corps training conducted by former US Vice-President Al Gore in Manila, Philippines. Clark was joined by Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong, Miss Earth-Air 2015 Dayanna Grageda, as well as national directors from South Africa, Australia and Russia.

"This training will enable me to empower our national and state delegates to truly make an impact on climate change," said Clark. "It has been tremendously inspiring to be led by Mr. Gore and the Climate Reality team."

As a certified Climate Reality Leader, Clark will speak to media, classrooms and countless others about solutions to the climate crisis. She will lead the Miss Earth United States organization in community efforts including Earth Hour and Earth Day. She will train the delegates to address the climate crisis in their own communities.

"My job is to build momentum for others to create change," said Clark, "Not only our representatives in Miss Earth United States, but also all whom we can influence. Our message can reach thousands if not millions of people."

Recognized as a Top 3 international pageant, Miss Earth focuses on environmental awareness while showcasing various tourist destinations. Miss Earth enters its 16th year with international finals being held in October in front of a global audience. Miss Earth United States will be held July 29-August 2 in Washington, DC, where one woman will be selected to represent the USA at Miss Earth 2016.

Clark's directorship of Miss Earth United States was announced in January. Clark spent five years as a state director, national titleholder and director of marketing for the Miss United States Organization. She also led program development, marketing and social media for Miss World America, assisting the US representative Elizabeth Safrit to win the Multimedia Award and 2nd Runner Up to Miss World. Before entering pageantry, Clark developed a prestigious career in professional sports entertainment. She was a cheerleader in the National Football League, appearing on CMT's Making the Team: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She directed Game Entertainment for Indoor Professional Football for three years and was Creative Director for the Science Cheerleaders.
